Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter from 2024 published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is a direct sequel to Helldivers, a top-down shooter from 2015. The game is set in a galaxy unexpectedly invaded by aliens.
Helldivers 2 review
As a member of a “helldivers” squad, we’re the first line of defense against the threat of the intruders. The biggest change from the first installment is the shift in perspective.
In the first part, we watched the fight from above, whereas in the sequel, we watch it from behind, bringing us closer to the action. Before each fight, we select equipment according to our preferences.
Elite unit
The soldiers of the elite “HellDivers” unit, with the song of democracy on their lips, defeated all the enemies that threatened Super Earth. The result was 100 years of peace, during which everyone lived in prosperity, took out loans to get married and enjoyed a building they’d have to pay off for the next 50 years of their lives.
However, nothing beautiful lasts forever. Huge insects, bred on various planets, have escaped from our kennels and are wreaking havoc. To make matters worse, at the same time, a rebellion of cyborgs has broken out in other planetary systems, who also want our total annihilation.
History
HistoryWe fight all those who show even the slightest desire to deprive us of our wonderful democracy. They’ve mixed the teamwork opportunity familiar from the first part, added a ton of propaganda and combined it all into a neat package.
And that’s without mentioning the democracy setting, which makes you smile from ear to ear. After a short tutorial in which we learn the ins and outs of navigating this world, we get the basic package of a hell diver: the cape, the space cruiser and the motivation to spread democracy.
Playing together
Helldivers 2 is all about cooperation. We can carry out missions solo, but the real fun only begins when we fight side by side with other players. Therein lies the beauty of this title.
Released simultaneously on PC and PS5, the game can be played on multiple platforms. The companions who team up with us on missions are a pretty explosive mix.
Democracy
We already know that spreading democracy is no mean feat. So what makes it easier for the hell-divers to spread it across the galaxy? A whole arsenal of expensive toys! As we complete missions on individual planets, we’re rewarded with medals which we spend on upgrading our deadly arsenal.
During each mission, we can collect samples that allow us to upgrade our cruiser through various maneuvers. These include dropping extra ammunition on the battlefield, automatic cannons, orbital laser attacks that demolish buildings, or a half-ton nuclear bomb.
Summary
Helldivers 2 Free Download is definitely a revelation and this year’s dark horse. It’s an excellent production to play with friends, combining a fun, tactical approach with a high level of difficulty.
Helldivers 2 looks very decent and will delight us visually, but there’s nothing to complain about either. The control itself is rather clumsy and not particularly intuitive at first, but you get used to it.
